Frequently Asked Questions about Natural Liquid Ozone
What is ozone?
In essence, Ozone is nothing more than oxygen with an extra oxygen atom formed by an electrical charge. In fact, in nature, the extreme high voltages that come with thunderstorms produce ozone when electricity hits an oxygen molecule in the air. It is a molecule that occurs naturally and is chemically free.
Is ozonated water safe?
Yes, oxidation is a natural process and eliminates the need for chemicals. It produces zero waste water and leaves behind oxygen molecules like the ones in the air we breathe. Cities including London, Moscow, Paris, Singapore, Los Angeles and Milwaukee have been using ozone treatment systems for many years. The EPA has also proven that ozonated water leaves no residues. More about the EPA ruling can be viewed here. However, do not consume O3 in its activated state. Wait one hour before consuming the purified water.
Can ozonated water be used to disinfect food, like fruits and vegetables?
Yes! Using ozonated water to disinfect your foods results in reduced amounts of E. Coli, Salmonella, and Listeria bacteria by an average of 99.9%. Disinfecting your foods with ozonated water is a natural way to get pesticide-free food without any leftover residues.
Where can ozonated water be used most effectively?
Ozonated water can be used for a wide variety of applications. Commercial uses for ozonated water include decontamination of fresh produce and food preservation. At home, ozonated water can be used to sanitize baby bottles, kitchen counters, door handles, in fact almost anything in your home can be disinfected safely with ozonated water.
What are the environmental benefits of using ozone as a disinfectant?
There are immediate environmental benefits to switching to using ozonated water including:
- You are no longer creating pollutants for landfills or needed recycling
- You are no longer purchasing chemical products requiring manufacture, transport, storage, accounting costs and more. No need for chemical drums.
- You are no longer generating wastewater and any wastewater produced is safe to enter waterways and surface drains resulting in disinfecting your drains and a more sanitary sewer system
- It is available for use when needed and safe for all who utilize its benefits.
Is using ozonated water cost effective?
Yes! The Oxidis® faucet systems are absolutely cost effective vs current products used. It is also environmentally friendly. Oxidis® backs this value solution with a guarantee for 1 year or approximately 10,000 hours of use warranty. But let's look at the math:
- The units produce 1.2 gallons per minute.
- 1.2 gallons x 60 minutes = 72 gallons per hour
- 72 gallons per hour x 10,000 hours = 720,000 gallons of natural and effective disinfection power!
So what is the real cost? The O3 Portable system is only $749 and is under warranty for up to 1 year or 10,000 hours of use. If we take that 10,000 hour estimate it will produce 720,000 gallons.
- $749 / 720,000 gallons = 0.00104 cents per gallon.
- .01/.00104 cents per gallon = 9.61 gallons for one cent
- 9.61 x 100 = 96.1 gallons of protection for only a single dollar, $1 buck!
Yes, it is absolutely cost effective and its value is only enhanced when you consider the expense reduction for the chemical products you are currently buying. It has delivered as needed and on site so there are no more deliveries, no more bulk storage, no more residues, no more invoices, no more landfill and drain waste, all while eliminating microbial risks. This makes it an outstanding value solution!
How is ozone different from chlorine?
Aqueous ozone has a distinct odor and taste when in its active state in the quantities needed for purification (its active state is about 30 minutes). After one hour, aqueous ozone is purified water and has no odor, taste, color or residue. In other words, it has become purified water and is suitable for drinking. While active and doing its work, it is non-irritating to humans and equipment and leaves no by-products except pure oxygen.
In contrast, chlorine leaves a chemical by-product called hypochloric acid as well as additional salts in water applications and has multiple safety concerns if not properly used.
How many water systems do I need?
That depends on where you are buying it for! If you are using it for a home, one unit is usually all you need. Higher traffic locations, like business and restaurants, often require more. We have some customers who have placed one on nearly every sink in their facility!
